CROSSROADS OF AFRICAN S CIENTIFIC E XCHANGE

SECOND CONFERENCE

MAY 10 - 13, 2011

Conference Travel Support

Limited funding will be available to support participation in the two-week summer school on Real and Complex analysis and for travel to the second conference in May 2011. We anticipate to issue funding requests late in 2010. Please register and submit your abstracts early and visit this page often for ALL funding updates. Preference for ALL funding awards will be given to interested junior participants giving a talk. (Junior = participants within (-4) years to (+10) years of obtaining their Ph.D.) If you are still a graduate student, please provide a letter of recommendation from your principal advisor. For funding inquiries, contact funding@bueaconference.com

Most funding allocations will be for partial support, so we encourage participants to seek alternate funding from the many sources (your schools/institutions, international agencies, etc) that fund conference activities and science in Africa. Most Universities (outside Africa) have funds to suppo0rt conference presentations by graduate student and postdoc fellows; check with your graduate student academic office or your department.

Below are two sources that participants may want to consider applying for:

  • UNESCO/ANSTI Diaspora Award: UNESCO/ANSTI is inviting African scientists (STUDENTS DO NOT QUALIFY) in the Diaspora to apply for the above award. The award is offered to scientists who wish to attend scientific thematic conferences and workshops in Africa. The award includes the cost of air ticket, accommodation and a daily subsistence amount for the duration of the conference, upto $2500. Women scientists in the Diaspora are particularly encouraged to apply. Please see link above.
  • AWM TRAVEL GRANTS: Objective- "Enable women to attend research conferences in their fields, thereby providing a valuable opportunity to advance their research activities and their visibility in the research community". Target Due Dates: There will be three award periods per year, with applications due February 1, May 1, and October 1. For details, see the AWM website

If you know of any source that can support conference, workshop or summer school participation by applicants from within and outside Africa, please do well to inform us to include in this space (org@bueaconference.com). Thank you.
