The goals of the conferences are to bring together distinguished scientists whose specialties involve mathematics and neighboring disciplines, to give their perspectives on current research and directions for further research in the area of their expertise. The idea is to provide a medium for the exchange of information and ideas among mathematical scientists from diverse backgrounds, promote research that will lead to effective new mathematical and computational methods and techniques for science, engineering, industry, and society, and provide a medium for Mathematicians outside of Cameroon to engage actively in the development of Mathematics in Cameroon, in particular, and Africa, in general. The overaching goal is to establish a premier conference series that will be a prominent and permanent forum for generating scientific synergies for the advancement of Africa's scientific and technological workforce.
For each Conference, the first two or three days will be aimed at fostering interdisciplinary exchanges, given that many disciplines (economics, engineering, medicine, life sciences, agriculture, telecommunications, industry … ) provide fertile grounds not only for the application of advanced mathematics, but also for the generation of significant mathematics ideas, and employment for a significant community of highly trained mathematical scientists. At the end of the conference, there will be an activity focused on a specific research area. For example: a hands-on workshop, summer school, For the first conference, a well-attended two-day workshop on Mathematical Biology was organized.
For the general conference, we seek proposals in any of the following areas:
·Pure Mathematics
·Applied Mathematics and Statistics
·Mathematics Education
·Mathematics and Society
For the Workshop on Mathematical Biology, we seek proposals on any aspect of the application of Mathematics to problems from the Biological Sciences. Presenters are encouraged to point the audience to specific open problems for possible discussions.
